Day 14: Cone, Traffic, Police, and Homer Spit

Prior to heading out for Homer, AK, Mick ran out to see the Exit Glacier while I finished waking and packing up.

Exit Glacier & Kenai Fjords National Park.   Mick’s Solo Trip.

This was the end of the glacier back in 1899.   Global Warming???

Entering Kenai Fjords National Park.

Note the cone at the end of the red arrow in the middle of the road.

Mick hit the cone at 40 mph.  The cone is no longer.  Some pieces came off the BMW, but so far have stayed on.  We have duct tape if we need it.

Upon Mick’s return, we left for Homer, AK at 9:30 am.

Traffic on Road to Homer.

We thought it was road construction, but looked like a jack-knifed truck hauling road construction equipment.

Grand total of 1 hr. wait.  Crawling 100 yards every five or ten minutes.

Trying to find something to do.

Riding the Homer Spit.

Land’s End, Homer Spit

Mountains across the sea.

Camping on the Spit???   Can you spell “Wind Chill”?

Someone lives Here in that old boat?

This was not our cop.  We found this cop approx. 50 miles out of Homer.  Our cop was around 20 miles out of Homer, and was very professional and courteous.
"65ish" in a 55 MPH zone was the charge.  I turned on the charm, and we only received a warning.  (I am guessing it was my charm, since Mick insisted it could not have been his!).  55 MPH has never felt so slow.   I have heard that on Alaska’s main highways, there are approx. 2 patrol cars per 500 miles . . . or so.  We spied 4 between Homer and Anchorage
